The point I was trying to make is the car was designed to be a 300hp car (and they added quite a bit of headroom above that) so anything above and beyond that is not needed. Nissan wasn't trying to design the best car as a start point for aftermarket tuners, they were trying to design a 300hp sports car for a reasonable price. Adding more expensive parts that wouldn't have done the car as it sits in the showroom too much good would be counter-productive.
