smoking profusely until we installed the cats as well... Lack of oil = accelerated wear on turbo bearings and seals... Damage to the engine was likely done when it was at your original installer and they never discovered the pan dent or low oil pressure. After I corrected the oil pan dent, oil pressure came back up and then we saw the turbo smoking problem as a result.
