I was the 3rd car in the first group on the track at 8 that morning (the footage behind the SMZ), and no one said jack shit, the extent of info I received was "ok go ahead" and a couple of hand waves into the tunnel and onto pit lane, so kudos for the communication. All of my hanging back was a direct result of the cars in front of me slowing down and there was no 35mph, so as they took off, so did I and that still wasnt the highest speeds seen, as the first run for me was the highest. There was no incentive for me to hang back and get no Z's, or just one Z, in the picture when I was looking to get as many Z's in the picture as possible for the video. The 4th/final run I was right behind Dustin for the purpose of getting footage of his car and I dont recall that pace car ever breaking 75 and mostly hovering just above 70. We were only out for 3 laps and there was only 6 cars in that group. When I even tactfully brought it up to ZCoT folks "working" the event, not a single one of them said what you have just said. Instead they were towing the line "wellllll, you knowww, there are various driving skill levels here and such a wide range of horsepower cars here and insurance just wont allow the kind of speed that folks want to see here......nothing but lame excuses and they were sticking to them. All the ZCot ppl I spoke to said the same thing throughout that morning and the rest of the day, so I can only conclude it was not being run the same as other events and you guys just got the cool pace driver, not a single one of them said anyone was screwing it up, and even the woman in the yellow 350 who ran the MSR event was "fucking it up" for everyone and the two 350s(burgundy and blue) hanging back in the video were both Texas cars, so thumbs up to whoever was in charge of making this event a success. So there is only two possible reasons for this....either the people "working" the event didnt have a clue and the info you have stated was effectively kept a secret by folks in the loop who would rather be pissed and bitch about others (who weren't privy to such info) than get it out to folks who could fix the situation or at least spread it themselves......Or what you are saying may not have been the case for the Z event, meaning you are assuming because they ran the Vette events that way that they would run the Z event the same, or someone told you info that simply wasnt true in this case. Hell, you guys just could have gotten the cool pace driver. The one in front of the SMZ was going faster right from the get-go than the one in front of Dustin ever did all 3 laps. Had you or anyone else told me this at the event I would have gotten out of my car and personally passed it along to everyone in my group if the event staff wasnt going to do it. The biggest thing my line of work stresses when trying to accomplish success in an objective which requires the synergy of its participants is that everyone must be on the same page, in other words no secrets, in other words make sure everyone is passed along the info that they need to make something happen. I have no issue with approaching strangers and passing something along to them if it will help the group reach a goal, I highly doubt anyone would have done what they did had they known what you are saying here, and most of them likely would have been thankful to receive the word. This never took place. So finger me as the cause of it if it makes you and spencer feel warm and fuzzy inside but the fact is there was absolutely minimal, no....more like, zero communication at all with the event participants. Not a single person I spoke to friday had said anything about what you had just said, and I chatted with folks of all Z gens and from various groups that day. So if you would like to point your finger, you can go find a mirror. You have claimed to have known what the problem was, yet you did nothing to fi[x]it but willfully sat by and let the event go down the crapper rather than say something to the people "working" the event. There were plenty of folks, myself included, who would have had absolutely no qualms about taking your input and getting it out to everyone personally if it was going to make things better, but that's all said and done now I suppose. Don't think I don't appreciate your reply though, what you have said is the first I have heard of it (2 weeks later oddly enough), and causes things to make much more sense in hindsight.
