| Just an update since I haven’t posted in a while. I needed a transmission and ended up finding one here local and I also got a new ragtop and frame from Z32Power (Joel). The trans is working just fine. The top is in and all mechanics are working but I still need to take the car to a professional and let them stretch the ragtop back onto the frame. So now it was time to deal with the paint. The entire car had deep scratches all over it. Surface scratches and swirl marks were everywhere and the paint felt like sandpaper to the touch. I clayed the car and it took some of the rough feel out, but it was still awful and the scratches remained so I decided to wet sand. I used 2000 grit sandpaper and a 3M sanding block. Onto the pics. Here’s a pic of the trunk before I started. The entire car had scratches like these.

Fender. Did I mention how scary sanding your car is. You can also see some of the scratches in the hood that I got out.
Here is the hood during sanding. That is not wax you see on the hood. That is scratches from the wetsanding. The portion of the hood by the steering wheel has been polished with a high speed buffer and rubbing compound at this point.
Half of the hood sanded and half buffed. Still no wax showing in this pic, just scratches. Notice the reflection.
So after a round sanding; a round of rubbing compound; a round of polishing compound; a round of polish; and three rounds of hand waxing; Here is the finished product.

All and all, I’m super happy with the results. There is still lots of chips in the front fenders and hood, and it still has a small dent behind the passenger rear wheel, but I smile every time I walk by it in the garage.
