sunk it. The people running CART just couldnt overcome the blow they were dealt. Cant lose the most recognizeable and popular race in the world and expect the casual viewer/fan who doesnt know the difference to stay loyal and watch the Michigan 500 with real drivers/teams/cars at the same time "the" Indy 500 is on, featuring upstart never-would-have-made-it-otherwise drivers/teams. IIRC one successful CART team jumped over to IRL the first year. CART was sunk the day the George's wanted more money.
