Message	sunk it. The people running CART just couldnt overcome the blow they were dealt. Cant lose the most recognizeable and popular race in the world and expect the casual viewer/fan who doesnt know the difference to stay loyal and watch the Michigan 500 with real drivers/teams/cars at the same time "the" Indy 500 is on, featuring upstart never-would-have-made-it-otherwise drivers/teams. IIRC one successful CART team jumped over to IRL the first year. CART was sunk the day the George's wanted more money.
