Message They are very different turbos.

With the 530's, power is instant. To the point of surprising you if you're not ready for it. If I were a better driver than I am, with better tires, they would be the perfect turbo for road courses/autox. Especially considering that you'll most likely be running race gas around the track, you'll be over 500rwhp with no lag whatsoever. An excellent all around turbo, especially if you're on stock internals. However, they have smaller exhaust housings that start to be somewhat restrictive on pump gas at high RPM (think highway pulls). That being said, the only thing that was close to being as fast on the highway as my car with sport 530s was a modded C5 Z06. And it still lost.

The 675RS's have slightly more lag - but it isn't something where there's no power under 5k rpm - power comes on very smoothly and predictably. I would imagine that they would be much laggier with stock exhaust components somewhere in the line (i have dual intakes, portwork, inconel manifolds, supersplit downpipes, test pipes, catback). If i were on and off of the throttle (ie, going around turns), then the lag might get annoying. It definitely feels like a turbo car again.

I would be very nervous about putting these turbos on stock internals - we all know that the stock bottom end is good up to somewhere around 700hp, but I would be very nervous about it still.

Highway pulls are nuts - I blew the doors off of a modified C5 (not the Z06) at 16psi - his comment when we slowed down "theres no fucking way that's stock" and a new viper rt/10.

In the end, I only swapped the turbos because I had to change the oil feed lines. I was very satisfied with the 530s, but figured that since I was pulling the engine, I might as well change up the setup just for shits and giggles.
