...the majority of the aftermarket SMICs for Zs are properly designed, and don't block the radiator whereas the majority of FMICs (for Zs) are poorly designed, T0m's notwithstanding. Again, 100% of FMICs block the radiator, and yes you can work around that, but why bother if you don't have to? Location does matter; despite the fact that you apparently don't care about having to work around a disadvantage of FMICs, others do. Your implication that the cooling issue is trivial is not accurate, aftermarket radiators aren't exactly cheap. Why use an FMIC if a SMIC can do the same job, without the disadvantages? Even if you upgrade your radiator, it'll still do a better job cooling if you use SMICs. Your second implication that there are as many poorly designed SMICs as there are poorly designed FMICs is also inaccurate. The majority of aftermarket FMICs are poorly designed (Apollo, etc.), while GReddy, Stillen, HKS, T0m, etc all offer quality SMIC products. There is no compelling reason to use a FMIC over a SMIC.
