I don't profess to know a whole lot about this crap, and I really don't care much about the debate of SMIC vs FMIC for the most part, but... From the highlighted portion of that writeup, it's not staying that FMIC are superior or inferior in respects to cross-feeding the intake banks. The true test of an intercooler on the Z32 is its heat transfer and flow characteristics. The drawbacks of going to FMIC are that: (A) You either have to ghetto-hack your front fascia (as you have done) or get an aftermarket fascia with a large open mouth that will provide ample and balanced airflow through the two chambers. (Not to mention any hacking you may or may not have to do to the actual bumper.) (B) There are more SMIC options than there are FMIC options available that have been thoroughly tested and proven. I don't have any quantitative data on this (since it isn't personally relevant to me), but many accounts that I have heard of the Apollo FMIC is that it is poorly designed and results in significant pressure drop. ::shrug:: So if I were interested in upgraded intercoolers, why would that appeal to me?
