Message I bought by NA on a lot with no clue about the history. I later ran a carfax report and discovered that it had 4 previous owners. Working on the car, I noticed the speakers had all been replaced; the interior panels had been removed before (so it rattled) and there were signs of a collision. That car had a HUGE maintenance list in the 2 years I owned it. I won’t even get into it.

Then I bought a one owner tt after an exhaustive search. It came from an older gentlemen who bought it from the factory in 93, put some highway miles on and then he retried a few years later and used it for weekend driving (the carfax confirmed this). After he retired, he had it repainted with a high quality color sanded paint job to fix the highway stone chips. He had all his maintenance receipts (including pre-maintenance) done at the local Nissan dealer. This car has been an absolute blessing. I added my mods in the first year and then stopped. In the 5 years I’ve owned it, I’ve only done tires, oil/fluid changes, batteries and I flushed out the radiator once. That’s it. It has been the most reliable car I’ve ever had.

I bought a Honda civic for a daily a few years ago. It is the same year as my Z (93) and had the exact same mileage as my Z when I bought it (76k). The civic has a longer repair list then my NA Z did. A poor college girl who couldn’t afford maintenance or pre-maintenance owned that thing. So just about everything small thing that can be replaced has been replaced.

Moral of the story is that car history does matter. Sure it’s hard enough finding a Z, but finding the right Z with a little patience will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.

"An Internet "troll" is a person who delights in sowing discord in the forums. They try to start arguments and upset people. For whatever reason, they don't fully understand that they are hurting real people. To them, other Internet users are nothing more than a kind of digital abstraction. Indeed, the greater the suffering they cause, the greater their 'achievement' (as they see it). The anonymity of the net allows trolls to flourish. They are easily identified by the fact that they are constantly at odds with other members of the forum, and often "poke fun" at individuals they have disagreed with in the past, trying to provoke a reaction. They tend to beget more trolls and in fact group together and defend one another in order to make their behavior look legitimate. Trolls create a paranoid environment, such that a casual criticism by a new arrival can elicit a ferocious and inappropriate backlash. When you try to reason with a troll, they win. When you insult a troll, they win. When you scream at a troll, they win. The only thing that trolls can't handle is being ignored and reported." - RT Matt
