The common denominators are grippy rubber soles, very soft leather, almost always loafers (not sure why, easier to switch shoes in the car?) and some rubber pattern running up the heel to nearly the top of the shoe to resist wear. I like to wear old running shoes since, aside from not being loafers, they sole/heel layout is pretty much the classic pattern, and they sure are broken in: 5-600 miles per pair at least. Price is right, too...
