Message	The bar is required for it to be a strucurally sound cage, it and the bar across the top of the windshield keep the two side from folding in on you if you get t-boned. The bar in my car is well away from my knees, I never have a problem or thought about it at all. I think part of that is because of my racing seat, I sit like 4" low than a stock seat, which means my legs are running along the floor more than they are coming down at an angle under the steering wheel.
