Message	a 1 1/2" hole. I read it the same way the first time. From the catalog "Installation requires drilling of 1 1/2 hole in separator panel, to existing strut lower bar platform" Worded badly and poorly designed drilling 1/2" holes in the strut area. Get the 300 degree unit. John
