to ground out to. there might be a chance it is using the fuel in the rail to complete a low voltage (poor ground) circuit, causing pintle or coil failure.if you disassemble a fuel injector, you will see that the coil is encased entirely in plastic/resins, however, this is the only odd theory we have right now. I personally believe it is a manufacturing defect, as the only injectors that seem to fail are the early model 555 injectors, and they seem to do so very early in their life. It is never a bad thing to disable a hot wire for safety. If it increases injector life, then yee-haw!
