| To match the performance of my new manifold design, I fabricated a pair of 3" stainless downpipes. To stay on schedule for the ZCon event, I wanted everything to bolt up to the stock 3-bolt flange locations. [ http://w82.photobucket.com/widgets/dynamicflash.php?featuretype=bucketshow&featurename=ZConDownpipes&pa=/j265/i-xclr8/ ] You can see these are a perfect fit to the stock cat pipe locations, however do not solve the problem with restrictive bends. My next task will be dropping my mock up engine in (for the 49th time) with the transmission and starter to re-configure exhaust pipes from the turbo flange to the cat-back flange.
I'm still hoping some enterprising TT owner or entrepreneur can step in to mass-produce a better-flowing 3" downpipe/testpipe combo (a tax-deductable TT?). Harry (Ztuner) and I are working on a prototype layout, but need to find a fabricator who can mandrel-bend 3" pipe and keep these components an affordable option for those TT owners wanting outstanding performance. Stay tuned for our latest results from Arlington, Texas and Fremont, CA....the first test of our custom-fit EGR hardware. By design, we're trying to be deliberative and as thorough as possible to ensure that there are no fitment or performance issues prior to larger-scale production. Thanks for your patience, Jon Abeler, Abeler Automotive Engineering (AAE)
