Message Guys

I got the Ashspec Massive IC's on friday and installed them. This is just a general overview on the install process, tools required, and parts needed to adapt the 2.5" inlets/outlets to stock IC piping.

Parts/Tools Required

Phillips/Flathead screwdrivers
1/4" Wratchet with assortment of metric sockets
1/4" Extension
Good pair of scissors
Hacksaw
Utility Knife

Parts:
Ashspec Massive IC's w/2.5 Inlets/Outlets
2 90 degree 2.5" to 2.0" reducing elbows. Part #ASRE90-X. I only got mine in blue because thats all that was in stock. They can be found here at boostcontroller.com

2 2.5" to 2.0" reducing couplers. I got mine from siliconeintakes.com

2 2.0" Joiner Pipes. I also got these from siliconeintakes.com

I also purchased all new clamps. I didnt go with T-bolt clamps yet, but if the need arrises, I will buy some

Overview

Install is quite simple. I have a jspec so this install will reflect that. This install will require a removal of the front bumper.

Start by removing the lower splash shields. These are pretty self explanatory. Then open the hood and identify and remove the 2 (or 4) 10mm bolts that hold the nose panel on .This exposes the 4 10mm bolts that hold the bumper to the support. Remove the turn signals. The phillips screwdriver comes in handy here. This allows you to get to the 4 10mm nuts (2 on each side) that hold the bumper to the fender. Remove those. After you've done this, it would help to turn the wheels in either directions enabling you to get the screws that hold the bumper to the fender on the far edges of the fascia.

After those are removed, you will be able to remove the 4 10mm bolts that hold the support for the fascia on. Remove the fascia and set it aside.

I removed the stock piping from the Intercoolers (since they are in a fixed position and you will have to work really hard to get the stock pipes off) first. there are 4 clamps on each side that hold the IC soft pipes to the IC hard pipes. After your coupler pipes are removed, you can remove the 3 14MM bolts that hold the IC's to their mounting braces on the car. Remove the ICs.

Now we move on to the Massives

Here is a comparison shot to stock

Here is a complete look at the parts you need for the install.
(bud light optional)

I started by mounting the IC's to the stock location. The 3 14mm hold each IC in. NOTE: It is VERY important you have all 3 bolts in. These IC's will not hold pressure if you dont have the bolts in place.

Start by using the 2.5" to 2.0" reducer and 2.0" joiner pipe, and connecting them to the IC, closest to the outside of the car. The reason you have to have the joiner pipe is you will be using part of the stock soft coupler. It will need to be trimmed. This is where the hacksaw comes into place.

I cut the joiner pipe in half, here is the result

I would use some WD-40 as lubricant to get the pipes to slide together easily. These do not just press together, its going to take some massaging.

Here is the result

Tighten it up, lets move on to the other side

Take your 90 degree elbow reducer and trim it like below. I would start large, and trim it as needed. Be careful not to take too much off, as these pipes are ~40 bucks.

In order to get this coupler to fit up to the stock piping, I unbolted the IC from the mounting points, to give myself alot of extra slack to fit it on. It will not be easy, and you'll probably let a few cusswords slip, but it will go on.

Repeat procedure for the driver's side. It is identical

Here it is all wrapped up

And now for a major part of the install, the boost leak test. I would not attempt to run the car at all w/out thorough testing of the piping. There are 6 clamps per side for this setup, so there is great potential for one thats on a little awkward or one you forgot to tighten.

After thats all good, install the bumper and enjoy the car!

My only gripe is the IC's came shipped in a box filled with peanuts and the ends of the IC's were not capped, so I had to spend some time getting all the peanuts out of the IC's.

The IC's are a HUGE difference over the stockers, definately offer a big kick in the pants performance increase. Thanks for the product Ash

DO IT!
