| The boost gauge should only have two wires unless you went with an electronic gauge. The two illumination wires are easiest if you just use the wires on the back of the light switch, that way the gauge with dim/brighten with your cluster. Wire the positive into the red wire with the yellow stripe and silver hash marks. The ground goes to the green wire with a red stripe. Exactly where did you drop the socket? If it's rattling, you could be risking a disaster depending on where it fell to. The smoke could be several things, I wouldn't panic yet. It was quite cool here this morning and this evening. It could just be condensation based on that. Overfilled oil and extended idling can also cause it. As for the cowl, sucks but replacement is about the only option and those things don't come cheap. You will want to replace them both as the drivers side will not match from being faded from age. Tim
