Message	different then what you would actually need to run the car down the street. I'm pretty sure you are referring to the mode in which your engine light comes on and the AC Condensor fan runs (like there is no Eprom even in the socket or a defective one). The car still runs but not very well at all. I don't think this is what would be considered a "saftey map". However I'm not the foremost expert on this subject, so I'll wait on Ash to chime in to give a better explanation. I could be wrong.
