Message I'm curious where you're getting this information from, because it's not making sense to me.

The whole point of the secondary maps is to retard timing and richen the mixture when detonation (or a sensor problem such as coolant temp sensor, etc) occurs.

I agree that if there's a problem with the ECM, it will drop into 'limp mode', but that's not the same as what occurs when the knock/other sensor kicks you into safety boost.

:When there is a critical problem such as detonation the microprocessor turns off communication with the eprom chip and uses it's own internal information or safety maps.

I don't believe this to be true. It still uses the data on the EPROM, but a different offset (ie the safety maps). Where is it pulling its enrichment values from in this case? It's not in 'limp' code just because of a failing sensor or detonation is detected.

To the best of my knowledge, JWT doesn't change anything else in the ECU that would tell it to bypass the EPROM's programming entirely if a problem is detected.

:So in short, the JWT chip is safe because there is no safe information that is needed to be programmed into it. The safety maps which save the engine due to critical problems are in the the microprocessor.
Please explain how you arrived to this conclusion.

:The secondary map which is not needed for safety is a secondary map used for certain conditions which no longer apply due to the changes in the primary maps.
Please explain how you arrived to this conclusion.
