Message Re: To say everyone copied the JWT chip is no different than saying JWT copied the Nissan ecu

- Everyone is using what is already there (the Nissan code) to create their own maps. This is how all tuning works.

Re: JWT's secondary (safety boost condition) timing maps are the SAME as the primary timing maps.

- This reference is hype. When there is a problem such as knock you go into a safety boost condition with the JWT chip just as with the original chip. Doesn't that tell you something about the code without even looking at it?

Re: Ash developed code for 5th gear mapping (only one to my knowledge) that modifies fuel delivery (I believe, maybe timing) during hard 5th gear pulls since they are usually extended and are tough on the engine.

- More hype. The ECU processor looks for a specific set of maps, not additional maps. You can't add maps that the main processor does not know what to look for. A map you explained could be made but not added at the same time as the maps needed for normal driving.

The ECU contains a programmed main processor which is programmed to look for specific information. The programmable chip (eprom) only contains set information which is used to feed the main processor when asked. This is a common way microprocessors work with eprom chips in all kinds of equipment. The main microprocessor is monitoring the information fed to it by a series of other chips and devices which are fed by all the sensors and depending on the conditions of the sensors the main processor asks the eprom chip what to do under those conditions. If the main micro fails to receive information from the eprom chip it is programmed to resort to default values. This is something else which is common to many microprocessors.

Just providing some light on the subject.
