Message On my way to work, there was construction on Rte 15, a two lane highway in CT. Traffic came to an abrupt halt. As I came to a stop about 3 feet behind a minivan, I saw a GMC Envoy barreling towards me in my rearview mirror with the driver obviously not paying attention. The putz finally noticed he's about to plow into me at about 70MPH and slams on the brakes. Car behind him, an Olds Alero, slams into him and winds up sliding down the road towards me sideways as the GMC screeches towards me. I was going to get hit by it, no doubt about it and nowhere to go with the minivan in front of me. The Alero looked like it was going to take up the right lane, so I couldn't even try to cut the wheel and floor it.

I took my foot off the brake so that my vert would give a bit on impact and roll forward rather than be completely stationary. Clenched by teeth and prepared for about $5k worth of damage. The GMC plowed right into me pretty hard. His airbag deployed and I hit the minivan in front of me from the force of the impact. After the Alero slid by sideways on my right and came to a stop, I got out to assess the damage. The GMC was full of smoke from the airbag deplyment and the driver was standing around dumbfounded. His front end was smashed up. The Alero was even worse. Windshield shattered, front end and side completely destroyed, tires blown out. Driver got out and was arguing with the GMC driver, bleeding slightly from the ear.

I walked to the front of my Z to check out the damage. Nothing. Urethane $tillen GTZ-R just paid for itself. Paint didn't even crack. The minivan I got pushed into also had a urethane bumper. No damage. The driver was relieved. I now walked to the back, expecting my rear end to be smashed to hell. Amaxingly enough, not a scratch. The GMC must have hit me doing at least 15MPH by the time he slowed down. Thanx to the stock urethane bumper and to the GMC's crumplezones, my Vert and I wound up without a scratch. I couldn't believe it! After making sure the cops were on their way for the two guys behind me, I told them that my car and I were unharmed and took off for work. I wound up 5 minutes late.
