Message	My stepfather's Passat just required major work due to engine sludge. Luckily I found an article online that showed that VW is aware of this issue, and when presented with the article, the dealership did all the work (around $1800) free. If you're unaware of this and want me to dig up that article for you, I have it saved at home - let me know.
