Message they apply to gas companies, but I think it is an industry that you want a company to be able to have a certain level of expertise in before they can start passing off cheap, possibly harmful, gas as quality stuff.

It does work, we get an ample selection of octanes and from our vantage point, a bottomless supply. If your state imposes more restrictive rules limiting those choices, then people in your state should do something about it.

With startup fuel companies i am worried that you could see such cut-throat competition in an industry that is solely price-based that competitors would resort to unethical practices to squeeze the extra $ out of the bottom-line. For example, "watering down" gas in whatever way they could to cut expenses and retain prices. This is what Arafat and the PLO did for years to rake in money off of their own uneducated people who did not know any better and whose focus was on hating others rather than on those taking them to the cleaners. And they got quite rich. Where do you think they got all the money for all their guns/bombs? They dont sell drugs, they dont export shit, other than resale of guns and bombs.

But I digress, standards dont restrict refining capacity restrictions restrict refining capacity. Standards ensure we get what we pay for. I'm all for that, and I vote for whoever will allow us to be more productive in self sufficiency, so I cant disagree with you there.
