Message The 2 econ classes that I took were taken care of by my scholarship.

I understand the concept of a boycott and the economic impact it CAN have if executed efficiently. However, the idea of boycotting a single oil company in one country and hoping for significant results is laughable. The sheer numbers required to execute it to the point of affecting Exxon's bottom line are staggering.

But if you want to start a chain letter email and rally the troops, go for it. You'll get all the tree huggers in line, but don't expect the average joe to give a shit. Not to mention how many people probably have stock in Exxon and certainly will not stop buying gas there.

So don't preach to me about basic economics. Thats not nearly the basis of my statement. The idea is ridiculous because it won't work (for reasons stated by others), gathering support will be a nearly impossible task, and Exxon is a multinational corporation. We're not the only country they deal with.

So go ahead and switch your oil from Mobil1. Exxon won't care.
