Message "I know you guys don't want to hear it, but my teg has a half sized radiator, and it still cools fine."

1) you have a small 2.0(+)Liter in line 4 cylinder engine. We have Large 3.0Liter V6 engines with turbos tucked underneath, plus the fact that the coolant has like 3 times more engine to travel through.

2) Your engine bay has WAY more free space for air to rush around cooling the surface of your engine. We do not have that luxury. With the size of the engine/cylinder heads in the engine bay, There is hardly any free moving air swirling around our engines.

3) The amount of coolant in your engine and radiator is probably 50/50. Ours is like 60% in the engine, and 40 in the radiator.

The front mount can only flow so much air until positive air pressure builds in front to the FM deflecting some of the potential ram air away and around the front of the Z(being so close to the front of the car), leaving less ram air delivered to the radiator at higher speeds, Plus the fact that the air is being heated by the FM, AND don't forget there is still an AC condenser in front of the radiator.
A set up with the sidemounts ensure that your radiator is getting as much air as it can. Ram air is not deflected because it has already entered into the front of the car and has no where to go other than be forced through the radiator. The Z community has plenty of good SM setups ranging from HKS to the ASH-spec MASSIVE SMIC setup that seems to be doing fine in the upper 600whp range and there's no reason to think they wont be a good setup for more power.
I'm not saying that the FM and necessarily junk either. For drag racing I can see there being a slight advantage over the sides, BUT, Front mount vs side mounts in a road course track for runs ranging from 5 min to half an hour or more, the FM set up car would be running quite a bit hotter than the SM car. Think of it like trying to run cross country in track wearing a sweater and jeans.
