His results are more of a function of the turbos' flow rate.

His torque and horsepower peaks somewhere around the same point as a stock Z's. If he made his engine breathe much better by opening up the passages more and using much more aggressive cams, his peak torque and horsepower would have come at a drastically higher RPM.

Take a look at the powerband of a M3 or S2000 and see what I mean about that. You'll see that his peak horsepower still comes somewhere around 6500 rpm. The main difference is that he used larger turbos which didn't run out of flow nearly as early as smaller turbos would, but the engine's flow characteristics still seem close to stock.
