Lots of people post their dyno slips, and at various levels of modification, mostly somewhere between this high level and stock. What I noticed was that almost all of them seemed to have torque #'s that were pretty much equal-to or greater-than the HP #'s (or at least thats how I seem to recall most that I have seen here). But in this case the peak torque is significantly lower.

I realize peak #'s arent really uber-important when translated into driving characteristics of the car, that is where the shape of the curve is the item of interest, but my question is basically is there something inherent to the VG engine or V-6's in general that causes the figures to work this way? Is Ash's car setup in some unique way that allows for a larger gap between the two figures? Or is the engine itself or the inherent qualities of a V-6 such that torque will taper off once you reach a certain power level, as in a diminishing returns effect?

Sorry to be so cosmic about this, but I was always under the impression that straight sixes were the engine of choice for 6 cyl performance applications due to some sort of inherent "balanced" nature of their performance....which in turn I assumed was why BMW is so keen on them. Toyota may have been more of an economic and cost related decision, but it would stand to be an added plus. Granted I have never looked nor cared about BMW or Supra dyno sheets, only find them interesting here to see how the mods you guys use affect the power curve. It's interesting to see graphical representations of performance, to me anyway.
