Message rather have a car that looks good as a whole and not have one particular feature stand out to grab attention.

To me, if a body piece draws one's eyes to that particular part, it's taking away from the overall impact of the Z32 as it was originally designed. Yes, standing out from the crowd takes a back seat with this approach but I think most will agree that subtle modifications (wheels, some sideskirts, a few spoilers) can achieve a level of uniqueness that doesn't throw the total style out of proportion.

I think there's a bigger impact of having someone say: "There's something different about this car, but I can't put my finger on it" vs. "Wow, you did XXX - that sure is different" [I'm not pointing any fingers at Mike]. The subtle approach requires a person to study the car for a longer period of time as opposed to pointing things out in less than 5 seconds. Sort of like studying a work of art - you get more out of it the longer you study it and find subtle nuances that the artist put into their work. That's the trick if you ask me....
