Message count per cubic meter. That is the first time I heard that one before. As far as I know, MAF measures moving air going across a sensor using the wind chill factor to keep the element heated at a certain temperature. The more air coming across the higher the voltage required to keep the element at set temperature. The voltage value is the reading the ecu will see.

No where is oxygen content part of the calculation in the ecu tables. It is the air mass that is part of the equation. Air fuel ratio is
AF=(mass of Air)/(mass of Fuel). Yes, oxygen is a percentage of air.
