of enough octane to supress detonation, but not so much as to compromise the burn rate of the fuel (too far down the power stroke) that robs you of HP. I've seen this on a dyno, where simply adding too much octane (on back to back runs), steals a significant amount of power. 118 is WAY too much octane for your set up....as evidenced by the loss in MPH. Also, some fuel changes the A/F ratio, and the car should (in theory) be tuned to the use of each different fuel. Hope that helps, Mark
