So I've been thinking lately (well, since last night actually) from the posts about the tranny not holding up during drag racing. Why not substitue it with a better transmission? The auto guys now have the option a using a TH400, why can't there be a better option for the manual guys? I can't imagine it being THAT hard.... considering a new 97 spec is about $2000. If we were able to utilize a proven tranny off a domestic it would be cheaper, then we factor in the custom bellhousing (or if the shaft is long enough we might be able to get away with an adaptor plate. Even if the price is higher than a 97spec, it would cheaper in the long run. Again don't start flaming me, this is just an idea im tossing around, I don't know the names of proven manual drag racing trannies nor has my tranny taken a dump on me (hopefully it wont soon.) Any guys with more knowledge wanna chime in?
