I'll also be doing retrofits for people for substantially less than the 99 jspec lights or the illusion lighting units. I must say, that it is *very* involved, especially for a first timer. I'm waiting on a few sets of headlights to do the retrofit that i'll be offering so that I can get beam pictures and work out all the issues before making the diy post. I used different projectors in my lights (TSX) than I'll be using for other people (ECE spec E46, Audi TT - same projector, maybe slightly modified for more color), primarily because i bought them before opening headlights, and modified them to the point that I wouldn't be able to resell them. The TSX projectors quite simply don't fit, and require some extensive modification for clearance and mounting. The E46 projectors are an almost drop in replacement for the stock halogen projectors, with a little bit of modification. The parts for the retrofit end up costing about $600 (E46, TSX projectors are about $100 more). The retrofits i'll be doing will be approx $800, sold outright without a core charge. You'll be able to sell your stock headlights for $200, so it'll end up costing you $600 in the end. I'll also be offering them at a reduced price for people who have plug and play kits already, since you won't need ballasts, which accounts for around $225 of the cost in parts. Illusion-lighting.com sells their units for $950, plus your headlight cores, so you'll be saving about $350 if you get them from me versus them. That being said, I'm not sure if there is a market out there for these, and I'll more than likely be doing only a few sets, since there is substantial time involved in this project, and I refuse to sell a product that is anything less than exceptional. If you're really interested, send me an e-mail, and I'll put you on the list. A few people have expressed interest already, and I'm holding onto their names.
