You can't be too picky, but since you're adding your own cash into the mix, you are the paying customer and they ought to do what it takes to make you happy. Sounds like they're not respecting that. I think you have the right to demand a good job without him blowing up on you, since that's what you're paying for. Also, in that kind of work, every car that leaves their shop is an example of their work; they ought to have pride in their craft and be driven to do a good job by that as well as the fact that you paid for it. I just don't understand shops that don't think that way. You'll send them more business if you're happy with their work, you know? Good luck getting it worked out, but my two cents is that I think you have the right to ask them to do as good a job as they can.
