I imagine that if the stud is so tight that you have to really torque on it, then it may flatten the threads some. But I assume that you would be replacing that stud anyway, or you could clean up the threads by running the nut back over it. Also, like with the idler studs, there is a thread free section to grab onto so there is no issue there.
