So what is your setup? What do you mean by "hard wire?" I interpret that as you tunneled a wire that is "permanently" in the car. That is what I plan to do. I will have the dock connector hanging out under the arm rest, and routed to the back of the HU. As far as the hand-held deal, I would never use it that way. I have a cheapo HU in my 4runner with a minijack connector on it that I use to connect my ipod to. So I have to make my selctions from the ipod itself. I find that I end up just using the "shuffle" feature and letting it run. The "read" problem that you mentioned, I hadn't heard of. If it doesn't have accurate artist info displayed, that is fine with me, assuming that I only use the shuffle feature anyway. Good to know though.
