Message diesel is much cheaper than gasoline. Also, they have to pay taxes on their car based on the type of engine that's in the car. The more cylinders there are the more they pay in taxes. If the car runs on gasoline it's even taxed more. Therefore, many of the automakers are focusing on smaller more powerful engines running on diesel to make it an attractive buy.

Let's just hope the U.S. doesn't catch on.
