Message the answer i read was the welds (inside) were being ground down to nothing... this is never a good thing. this is also why i would always weld on the outside. the argument can go both ways tho... i'd rather go for a substantial penetration of weld, versus grinding down substantial penetration for flow purposes. thats ME tho.

and there are about 200 variations of Inconel (most with drastically different metallic components), with equally as many welding fillers. you have to become a mini-metalurgist when sourcing materials.
PS, inconel is based off of Nickel, which as you may know from your 5 cent pieces, is a pretty robust little metal.

and inconel ROCKs, but takes high heat to do right. your home Tig unit probably wont cut it... or you'd have some nice cold welds.
