bearing, making the loud knocking sound. If the car was tuned safely (boost and timing) and maintained with high-octane fuel, you had a crap engine. I've seen this happen before, where a high leakdown or low compression JDM engine is used for an engine swap. No matter how much care you take of it, it's a dying engine and will give up at some point. If you don't have leakdown and compression data on the engine before it was installed, you have no one to yell at. If you do have the data (and it's good), then start to consider other things that may have caused the detonation, which ultimately blew your JDM motor. Unfortunately, you'll need to start all over. I'd try to get a used TT motor from an American-based car, rather than the unknown of a JDM motor. Your best option would be a new Nissan shortblock - these all come at a cost of course.
