| offset can have an effect on caliper clearance. I just think the real determining factor is the hub height regardless of offset. Offset is more a measurement of how a wheel will sit in the wheel well, and clear the fender and suspension components. Each measurement is important but I feel hub height is the key in caliper clearance. It is also rarely if ever mentioned when the discussion of wheel fittment is brought up. I've read threads where a wheel was purchased with proper offset, and the poster is puzzled that the calipers don't clear the back of the wheel. I just figured I'd bring this measurement to light.
