The absolute best car I ever owned was a 1996 3000GT SL. I had the car from 30k through 120+k miles. It never once left me stranded or ever had to be in the shop for any reason whatsoever and I drove the hell out of that car!!!!!!!! It was a 5spd with a transmission that shifted so smoothly and queitly that it almost shifted itself. My Z`s 5 spd died at 40k miles! BUT,nothing on this planet is as bulletproof as a 300ZX engine. I`ve had 3 Z`s and the first 2 were driven to hell and back with not a single engine issue whatsoever. I wouldn`t trade my Z for anyting else! They`re pretty comparable cars. Mostly probably just a matter of taste. 3000GTs,300ZX`s,Supras,and RX-7s are all in the same class. Japanese exotics basically. The Z of course being the best though :) It`s more of a raw performance sports car than the 3000GT. The 3000GT`s seem to be more of a "luxury sports coupe" in my opinion after have owning both the GT and the Z. Plus the Z32 300ZX is still WAY ahead of it`s time even 15 years after it`s introduction! No other car can claim that title.
