Message There is a specific wheel design that fits the Z32 and other similar cars. It is called the "super face" design. The design of the wheel is totally independent from the offset size. A larger offset (smaller number from the wheel c.l.) will increase the chances of the wrong design of wheel fitting.

Adding spacers is a viable option. I doubt that there have been many documented failures caused by their use, but added loads to the hubs, bearings, spindles and steering components are significantly increased.

One documented effect of adding spacers is on the steering scrub radius. An offset change of as little as 1/4" has been noted to affect steering response in racetrack use.
