plenums don't meet at an angle perpindicular to the airflow. The gaskets you are talking about are thicker than the minimal stock paper gasket used on our car. So, if you put that in, you will make the path for the air jagged. You would need to do a lot of port matchng on the upper and lower plenum, as well as on the gasket itself, to get a straight, smooth transition.
