| That wankel is very finicky. You can get them to run real good but they had a few problems from the factory concerning the transition from the primary turbo to the secondary turbo that kicks in above 4400 rpm...all the "stock" dyno sheets show this dip in power momentarily. It also has a ton of vacuum lines (like the Z) but that engine runs even hotter than the Z's does and almost 100% of the time, that rat's nest is a pain to replace. You also absolutely CANNOT overheat these engines in the least...It ruptures the seals around the rotors and ruins the motor. A typical, well cared for Twin Rotor Wankel Engine (Turbocharged) lasts from 50-90 K so I hope they are cheap from the dealer. The N/A Wankels last forever even though they eat like a quart and a 1/2 of oil every 2500-3000 miles. I'm sure there are guys out there that have had NO problems with their RX-7s but on a whole I think the Z offers a better total package. the RX-7 handles better due to it's 650 + weight advantage and would be a better track car where reliability is'nt as critical as being broken down on the side of the road somewhere. I've driven the RX-7 and it IS a PURE sports car but just like the RX-8, I think Mazda rushed it to market and did'nt get the quality to where it should've been. We're ALL biased on this forum and I'm sure that if you went to an RX-7 Forum, they would say just the opposite of what we're saying but I truly believe the Z is the better overall package. And NEVER,EVER......eva,eva,eva,eva,eva...let your girlfriend drive! Just my .07 Rob
