| Pic 1: the 'cushion' is some type of ghetto floorboarding rig up that was done to your car (I'm guessing before you bought it). Definitely NOT the stock pressboard that normally covers the spare tire. Pic 2: More of the same. Ghetto rig-up to hold the spare tire in place. Not from the factory by any way, shape, or form. Don't worry about the sarcasm around here. It's tiresome and pointless, so the faster you learn to ignore it the easier things will be. I'm entertained by your posts and big kudos for taking the initiative to start working on your car. Everything starts with the first step. Changing the oil on my first Z was the first 'tech' thing I did too... now I can pull engines practically blindfolded. Good luck. Read a lot and take things very slowly. If you do attempt the timing belt make sure you don't have to rely on your car being ready in xx hours because it'll never happen and you don't want to end up being forced to rush. Simple mistakes on that can spell disaster for the engine if not caught. Damon's writeup on here is fantastic. It's what I used the first time and everything worked out. :)
