I found this as an American automotive definition for what can or cannot be called a coupe: "A closed car with two side doors and less than 33 cubic feet of rear interior volume, according to measurements based on SAE Standard J1100. A two-door car is therefore not necessarily a coupe." Of course, that's just a US definition. Other countries go by other definitions, most of them regarding number of doors and roof design.
"The two seater is being joined in a few weeks by a larger two-plus-two model with a rear seat for munchkins." ~Jim Mateja, Chicago Tribune, in regards to the Z32.
