I actually weighed everything the last time I had all of it out of the car when switching things over to the new Z chassis and without the battery, it all came in at 17#. The second battery is actually the heaviest component of it all, more than double that of the actual computer and peripherals. I actually dont spend much time looking at the displays while driving - I have customized the X-10 remote buttons and in the few years I have been using it, I have all the buttons location/functions memorized. The a-pillar display is high enough up on the dash that I can look over at it and still have a strong peripheral view of vehicles in front of me. Even the center display is high enough that I have on a couple occasions demonstrated that I can navigate in traffic while staring only at the center display. This is the key to having such a device in the car - it needs to be high enough that you dont lose the peripheral view if you look at it. Maybe someday we will have a solution that creates an image within the glass of the windshield itself, self-lit, etc.
