I assume you meant tp's and dp's, not gutted cats and precats. I had a hot muggy day at the track and turned a 13.3 on bald street tires...that's about the best time I've seen a stock C5 cut. I was running boost jets at 12 psi. At 15 psi (which I now run...finally got a boost controller), and newer better tires the car should be good for high 12's. I don't think that a C5 can do that stock...but it would still be a tight race. Somewhere near the top of third gear, a stage 3 +dp +tp Z should start to pull away pretty hard. A C5 doesn't stay at my side very long at highway speeds. The C5 is definitely easier to work on than the Z, but no less expensive from what I have seen. The handling is superb...especially with the "z51" (or whatever the moniker) upgraded suspension. My biggest problem with the C5 is the lack of an open frontal view. All you see is hood. Also, the interior feels pretty cheap really..(always a problem with vette's until the C6.) Overall, I prefer the Z..it's a more satisifying, smoother form of high speed transport than the more raucous vette, and you see more C5's than Z's if that matters at all to you.
