| I'm not saying to always pound on the gas pedal every time there's a merge. But sometimes the situation calls for it. What if the guy next to him had already started to slow down? Obviously he would speed up a little to pass. And there are a dozen other situations that would warrant accelerating a little, instead of braking. The details in his first post were pretty thin, and I think you were a little quick to assume that he was just driving like an asshole.
