Message any more than 20% variation in the fuel system, the ECU will account for it via the closed loop control mechanism of its own. It works very well, and this is the part of the ECU's system that allows for it to work as well as it does across a large number of vehicles.

When you program the ECU for a particular injector size, there are quite a few parameters that are changed other than the injector K value. THese parameters are essentially the boundaries of injector operation that are allowable, and they are very easily adjusted. The ECU's closed loop control takes over from there and as long as there aren't any problems with the car, it will work very well.

With the AFC, you aren't tuning its closed loop. In fact, you will notice that if you change things with the AFC for the low throttle position and then check it again at a later date, the ECU will have re-learned and adjusted itself to bring the A/F back to where it should be for closed loop operation.
