:too bad you could't hang in there in the ARMY. : :Yeah I have heard that often and in many ways, I know I will live to regret the decision to leave. lots of changes over the years that influenced my decision to leave. WOn't bad-mouth the Army, it provided me with many skills, values, and personality traits that I am proud of and could not have gained through any other means. Excessive deployments and operational tempo were the biggest factor. Tough on a family moving all over the place and separations for many months and even a year or more frequently. Have a desire to establish long-term friendships and own a home etc that are all but impossible in the service.
But a lifelong paycheck at 40 would have been awful nice! I am going back to Iraq on Sunday for KBR (a division of the infamous Halliburton) plan to spend a year there - tax free and making four times my wage as a sergeant in the Army. A one year contrat will be enough to get me off to a good start as a civilian.
