because the LSD is a closed unit, and doesn't share fluid with the differential. The friction modifiers are made for differentials that have the LSD portion (clutch packs) sharing fluid with the ring and pinion part of the diff. A good high performance 75-90 (Redline, Royal Purple, etc.) works well. I use the Richmond Gear 75-140 for the 4.10 gear swap, because of it's shock absorption qualities, high heat dissipation, and compatibility with the aftermarket gears. I would recommend staying with the stock fluid recommendations when adding fluid to a completely stock rear end. Hope that helps, Mark
